REMEMBERING CHILE'S MINERS 2010
PSALM 40:1-5
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
[2] He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
[3] And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
[4] Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
[5] Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered
lyrics
THOUGHTS OF A MINER
We were thirty-three in number
Lost a half a mile down under
Thought we'd never see the sunlight anymore
The devil tried his best to take us
But the Lord did not forsake us
With Him our number added up to thirty-four
Chorus
In spite of it all, in spite of it all
We made our way from the darkness of night
Up into the light
In spite of it all, in spite of it all
I made my way from the darkness of night
Up into the light
The darkness lasted 'till October
At times I thought my (his) life was over
And that the horrible pit would surely be my (his) grave
With the world watching and praying
Along with prayers that we (I was)were praying
We claimed the promise in the Book that He would save
Repeat chorus
Soon the world will not remember
My plight from August through September
But I'll never be the man I was before
So many things that used to matter
As I climbed life's little ladder
Well they just don't seem to matter anymore
Repeat chorus
